The Met Gala or also known as The Met Ball, is considered to be fashion’s most anticipated night and one of my favorite fashion events! If you’re not familiar with the event, this is where celebrities in fashion and entertainment gather in extravagant outfits in the name of fashion and art.

 The glamorous event takes place every first Monday in May at the prestigious Metropolitan (Met) Museum in New York City. All the proceeds of the night go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The event also marks the unveiling of the museum’s newest fashion exhibit.  

El Met Gala, o también reconocido como El Met Ball, es considerado como el evento más esperado en moda y uno de mis favoritos eventos de moda. Si ustedes no están familiarizados con el evento, aquí es donde celebridades en el mundo de moda y entretenimiento se unen a celebrar en el nombre de moda y arte.

El glamouroso evento se lleva acabo el primer lunes en Mayo en el prestigiado Museo Metropolitano (Met) de Arte en la ciudad de Nueva York. Las ganancias del evento van al Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute en la ciudad de Nueva York. El evento también marca la inauguración de la nueva exhibición de moda del museo. 

Each year has a specific theme for the night and this year’s theme was, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”

Cada año tiene una temática especifica, y este año la temática del evento fue: “Cuerpos Celestiales: Moda y la Imaginación del Catolicismo”

If you’re interested in knowing more of this big night,  I recommend watching “The First Monday in May.” The documentary takes you behind the scene of everything that it takes to organize the big event. Definitely a must see!

Blake Lively

If I only had to choose one “best dressed” from the night, it would hands down be Blake Lively. Everything about this look was absolutely stunning and truly embodied the theme of the night. Lively was accompanied by Christian Louboutin, the designer of her dress and shoes. The impeccable embroidery on the Christian Louboutin dress took approximately 600 hours to complete! The dress was so extravagant that Lively had to take a party bus to the event!

Si solo pudiera escoger una “mejor vestida” de la noche, escogería a Blake Lively. Todo sobre este vestido es maravilloso. Este atuendo realmente representaba la temática de la noche. Lively fue acompañada de Christian Louboutin el diseñador de su vestido y tacones.  ¡El impecable encaje del vestido tomo alrededor de 600 horas para hacer! El vestido era tan extravagante que Lively tuvo que irse en un autobús para el evento. 

Rihanna 

Rihanna always stands out at the Met Gala due to her extravagant gowns and this year was no exception! Nobody can forget her unforgettable 2015 Guo Pei gown in which she completely won best dressed of the night. This year she hosted the big event alongside Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney and her outfit once again did not disappoint. Rihanna wore a custom embellished Maison Margiela coat accompanied by a stunning pope hat.

Rihanna siempre sobresale en este evento por sus “atuendos” extravagantes y este año no fue una excepción. Nadie puede olvidar el inolvidable vestido del 2015 Met Gala de Guo Pei en cual ella completamente gano la mejor vestida de la noche. Este año ella fue anfitriona junto a Donatella Versace y Amal Clooney y una vez mas, no decepciono. Rihanna estaba vestida en una capa adornada de Maison Margiela acompañada de un maravilloso sombrero de papa.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie embodied an angel with her whole look. She wore a stunning gold Ralph Lauren gown with a cape. The dress was completely embellished with Swarovski crystals. The presence of halos were everywhere at the event. Rosie opted for a simple halo to complete her look.

Sza

Singer Sza wore a beautiful blush pink Versace gown to the big event. She paired the gown with matching embellished thigh high boots and looked absolutely amazing! She adorned that stunning gown with the most magical starry headpiece. This headpiece wasn’t like others, it was extravagant and definitely one of my favorites of the night. 

La cantante Sza se vistió en un hermoso vestido rosado claro de Versace para el gran evento. ¡Ella llevo botas largas que combinaban su vestido y lucia espectacular! Ella adorno su maravilloso vestido con el tocado mas mágico de estrellas. Este tocado no era como los demás, era extravagante y definitivamente uno de mis favoritos de la noche.

Ariana Grande 

Ariana Grande donned a stunning Vera Wang gown with a long bow headpiece.  The Vera Wang gown was a piece of art, literally. The gown featured Michelangelo’s famous “The Last Judgement” painting. Her horsehair bow headpiece symbolized “a modern interpretation of Catholic iconography” according to Vera Wang. 

Ariana Grande llevaba un vestido de Vera Wang con un tocado de moño largo. El vestido de Vera Wang era una pieza de arte, literalmente. El vestido tenia la famosa pintura de Miguel Ángel “El Juicio Final.” Su tocado de moño de crin simboliza “una interpretación de la iconografía Católica” según Vera Wang.
